About Your New Restoration(s)
EATING:
- Prototype Crown or Bridge. Be cautious of eating until the anesthetic wears off. Avoid chewing gum, hard foods, i.e. nuts or sticky foods.
- Permanent Restoration. You may start eating with your new crown or bridge after 15 minutes.
DISCOMFORT: Slight discomfort after treatment is normal. If you can, take ibuprofen; otherwise, use Tylenol. Rinsing with warm salt water (dissolve a ½ tsp of salt in a glass of warm water) can help tender gums.
SENSITIVITY: Temperature sensitivity is normal and it should be temporary. If your tooth is temperature sensitive, avoid extremely hot or cold foods and beverages.
LOCAL ANESTHESIA: Numbness will remain for a few hours after. Be careful not to bite or chew in areas that are numb. If you feel stiff or sore, we recommend warm liquids or moist hot pads to provide relief.
HOME CARE:
- IT IS IMPORTANT TO INCREASE YOUR HOMECARE – IF TISSUES ARE INFLAMED, WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CEMENT THE NEW RESTORATION.
- Prototype Restoration: Follow your normal homecare routine. When you floss through the contact area, DO NOT pull floss back out the same way – pull through the side. Follow any specific instructions given at your appointment.
